Hey folks,
This year has seen a number of new developments for The Corduroy Road, including joining forces with Athens’ Mule Train Records, the opportunity to work with legendary engineer/producer John Keane, and hitting the road full time. With 50 shows under our belt in 2009 thus far, we’re extremely thankful for the opportunity we’ve been given to spread the TCR gospel.
As we’ve all seen first hand, the one thing we can fully expect in life is for things to change. Different things pull people different directions, and The Corduroy Road is certainly not immune to the tug of war of life. This past weekend the band played it’s final show with good friend and original bassist Tim Helms. Tim’s bone-dry humor, professionalism, and immense musical ability will definitely be missed, and we wish him nothing but the best as he goes on to pursue other aspirations.
Although parting ways is always bittersweet, we are very excited about the future and are thrilled to introduce upright bassist Elijah NeeSmith as the newest addition to The Corduroy Road, effective immediately. As a veteran of numerous Athens, GA bands, Elijah brings to the table tremendous feel, stage presence, and valuable playing experience. Elijah will make his TCR debut on Wednesday, May 13 at Hanover College in southern Indiana.
We’re also extremely excited to announce that our upcoming LP, Love Is a War, will be released on June 27, 2009 at Athens’ own music and arts festival Athfest! We will have the pleasure of sharing the main stage with great Athens’ artists Don Chambers, Bloodkin, and Patterson Hood. Check out the lineup and schedule at www.Athfest.com!
Also, our brand new EP Just One Drop is now for sale online at www.CDBaby.com and Itunes!
Thanks so much for all of your support and kindness!
See you on the road..
